Fee Structure

Our fee structure is designed to be fully transparent and all-inclusive, covering all ongoing, comprehensive financial planning and investment management services.

As a fee-only firm with a fiduciary duty, we don’t sell products, earn commissions, or accept kickbacks. Our clients are our sole source of revenue, and our fees reflect the value of the work we do for you. When it comes to our partnership with you, our success is measured exclusively by yours.

At our core, we believe this isn’t just the best way—it’s the right way. For us, it’s the only way.

We offer multiple ways to work together because we believe everyone deserves access to objective, high-quality financial advice. If we’re not the right fit for you, we’ll gladly help you find a firm that meets your needs.

Your first meeting or phone call is always complimentary—there’s no cost or obligation. Let’s start the conversation!

Why We Are a Fee-Only & Independent

Traditional financial advice often revolves around selling products and generating revenue for investment firms, banks, or insurance companies. The more transactions they encourage—whether it’s trading or purchasing additional services—the more they earn through commissions. Unfortunately, these transactions may prioritize the firm’s profit over your best interests.

At Cypress Wealth Management, we’ve chosen a different path: operating under the higher fiduciary standard. This means our sole focus is on recommending solutions that are genuinely in your best interest. We don’t sell products, and we don’t earn commissions. The only fee you pay is for the services we provide or the assets we manage, giving you access to personalized advice and a wide array of best-in-class financial solutions.

Our independence is a reflection of our loyalty—to you, our client. As an independent firm, we have no ties to a home office, proprietary products, or marketing agendas that could create conflicts of interest. This freedom allows us to tailor our advice to your unique situation and select the best investments and strategies to help you achieve your goals.

F.A.Q.

What does it mean to be a fiduciary?

Serving as a fiduciary means we are legally and ethically obligated to act in your best interest at all times. Whether it’s recommending investments, crafting financial strategies, or advising on major life decisions, our priority is ensuring your interests come first. It’s more than just a responsibility—it’s the foundation of trust that guides everything we do.

Do you operate under a fiduciary standard?

Cypress Wealth Management operates in a fiduciary capacity in all aspects of our advisory relationship with you, which we believe will provide you with peace of mind. We never sell products such as insurance or annuities, however, if our work together shows you would benefit from a financial product, we will advise you on what’s appropriate and we can help you purchase it through a fee-only channel.  We never receive any commissions or sales incentives from these products which helps us keep our advice objective. We use trusted resources and referrals, with no fee reciprocation agreements. Our fees are always transparent and disclosed clearly.

If you manage my investments, where will my accounts be?

We use qualified custodians such as Charles Schwab.  The custodian’s primary role is to protect client assets from fraud, unauthorized access, or misuse.  We never mix your assets with ours or with those of other clients.  Accounts at the custodian are always in your name so that you retain full ownership at all times.  You will always have access to your accounts through the custodian’s website or through our client portal.

Anyone can call themselves a “Financial Advisor,” what formal financial education do you have?

It is true that anyone can call themselves a “Financial Advisor” or a “Wealth Manager,” even if they have no formal training.  It’s important that you ensure that the person advising you has formal training and credentials such as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, or an Accredited Investment Fiduciary.  These designations demonstrate a proven educational foundation to effectively offer financial planning and advice.

We hold both the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) and the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF) designations.

What is your client retention rate?

We are grateful to serve our clients, who, in many cases, become like our extended family.  We are humbled to have an average annual client retention rate above 98%, as some clients relocate and prefer to work with someone face-to-face.

Having said that, we currently work with clients in many states across the country and around the world and we are set up to work remotely.  Most client chose to retain our services, even if they move out of the Memphis area.

All of this to stay, our clients are typically lifelong clients, and we consider it a privilege to walk alongside them on their financial journey.
